Salah seorang stakeholder menghampiri saya, beliau adalah salah satu investor yang turut aktif dalam beberapa proyek sistem terdistributif. Dalam perbincangannya dia sangat tertarik sekali dengan konsep SOA yang diperkenalkan oleh rekannya pada saat dia berada di luar negeri. SOA... SOA dan SOA, beliau begitu antusias sekali, bahkan beliau menginginkan sistem-sistem yang sudah berjalan itu turut mengadopsikan SOA. J

Apa inti cerita yang saya kemukakan tadi, intinya sederhana secara teori dan konsep SOA memang cukup luar biasa, SOA termasuk konsep arsitektur yang bersifat divergen dan dapat dipandang dari berbagai aspek stakeholder , mulai dari stakeholder business, teknis, hingga mungkin marketing. SOA mungkin sebuah buzzword yang indah pada beberapa tahun yang lalu atau mungkin beberapa tahun ini di dunia akademik Indonesia.

SOA ibarat peluru arsitektur untuk semua pihak yang terlibat dalam pengembangan aplikasi terdistributif, tetapi sekali lagi tidak ada "Silver Bullet". Banyak Mitos tentang SOA yang harus diluruskan demi keberhasilan arsitektur ini di lingkungan terdistribusi, berikut adalah beberapa mitos menarik yang mungkin bisa sama-sama kita telaah.

• SOA adalah metodologi
• SOA adalah referensi arsitektur
• SOA adalah keseluruhan bisnis proses
• SOA adalah keharussan untuk sistem terdistribusi saat ini

Windows Sharepoint Service (WSS 3.0) and Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server (MOSS 2007) are expose a rich and powerful managed application programming interface to enable developers build business application on top of it. Both WSS and MOSS takes full advantage of Microsoft ASP.NET 3.5, core .NET 2.0 runtime and Visual Studio 2008.

We have announced this competition in the last Bina-ISV day but this is a broader announcement for your who didn't attend to Bina-ISV. In this competition, we challenge you to develop Coolest Web Part that utilize the following features in .NET 3.5 and Visual Studio 2008:

- Sharepoint 2007 State Machine and Sequential Workflows
- Sharepoint Web Part with ASP.NET AJAX and Silverlight



Judgement Criteria:
- Web Part Features and Usefulness (40%)
- Utilization of the latest Silverlight and ASP.NET Framework (40%)
- User Experience (20%)

Requirements:
- Only ISV eligible for this competition;
- Complete ISV Form (form can be downloaded from here) 
- Submit Screenshot of your Web Part to sharepointcontest2008@hotmail.com with 
  “Web Part” as email subject together with filled ISV Form;
- The winners required to demo/show the Web Part and related code/files;

POS for .NET is a class library that enables POS developers to apply Microsoft .NET technologies in their products.  It provides a simple and consistent interface for .NET Framework applications to interact with POS devices, a set of interfaces and classes created to help vendors develop applications for common devices such as cash drawers or line displays, and support for plug-and-play functionality.

This is an invitation to all ISV developers in Indonesia. We will give you a code base (C# and VB.NET) and you have to complete the application to participate in this competition. The best winner will get opportunity to visit Microsoft Development Center in Hyderabad India.

Please get one copy of PCMedia magazine and read the attached little book "Membangun Sendiri Aplikasi Perpustakaan". It is 97 pages book in Bahasa Indonesia contains a step-by-step tutorial on building simple application with .NET Framework 3.5, IIS 7.0, C# and SQL Server 2005 express.

    


3 Steps to Participate

1. Download the Source Codes
First, you have to download the source codes of this 3-tier simple application from this link. The downloadable zip package contains both C# and VB.NET codes of the application. From architecture point of view, it is very simple. It contains SQL Express data tier, LINQ based Web Service Interface as business tier and UI front-end (ASP.NET and Windows Forms).

2. Read the Tutorial
For experience developers just jump into the source codes directly and make it run (prerequisites softwares are explained in the 1st chapter). For beginner, make sure to following the step-by-step tutorial and get the big picture of the codes. There are 7 chapters in the book to read before you can start develop your own version.

3. Submit your Codes
Once you have followed the tutorial and your application is running well, attach the screenshot of the application and send to developeridol2008@hotmail.com. Make sure you put "Developer Idol 2008" as subject of your email and give your profile info (name, address and KTP #) at the body email. We will reply the email with your participant code (IDOL0001 for example). Participants will get 2 months to complete their application. The final submission deadline is May 20, 2008. My team at Microsoft will select top 3 winners who will get:

- Certificate from Microsoft Indonesia
- One Week Internship at Microsoft Indonesia Developer and Platform Team
- PCMedia voucher for 1Year
- External Disk : 320 GB

The best from these three winners will get opportunity to visit Microsoft Development Center in Hyderabad India.

Microsoft Indonesia bersama SENADA, sebuah proyek untuk peningkatan daya saing yang didanai oleh USAID, hari ini mengumumkan tiga pemenang kompetisi iMULAI pada sebuah acara penyerahan penghargaan di Hotel Crowne Plaza. Kompetisi yang bertujuan untuk menggugah semangat berinovasi dan menegaskan pentingnya inovasi di kalangan pebisnis Indonesia tersebut telah dimulai sejak tanggal 15 November hingga 31 Desember 2007 lalu. Panitia telah  berhasil menampung lebih dari 100 aplikasi inovatif yang berasal dari berbagai kelompok pemain teknologi, seperti perusahaan TI, kelompok mahasiswa dan organisasi non pemerintah.

“Telah menjadi komitmen kami untuk menumbuh kembangkan Ekonomi Piranti Lunak dalam negeri atau biasa disebut Local Software Economy (LSE), iMulai adalah salah satu pemicunya. Para pemenang program in diharapkan memiliki kesempatan untuk menjadi rumah produksi software atau ISV yang mampu memenuhi kebutuhan infrastruktur dan aplikasi di dalam negeri atau bahkan berkompetisi secara global,” kata Tony Chen, Presiden Direktur – PT Microsoft Indonesia. “Prakarsa LSE Microsoft fokus pada meningkatnya ketrampilan tenaga kerja, terciptanya peluang kerja, penguatan inovasi, dan peningkatan daya saing melalui berbagai program yang dirancang khusus sesuai kebutuhan ekonomi, sosial, lingkungan setempat,” tambah Tony.

“Kami percaya bahwa inovasi merupakan satu faktor terpenting dalam daya saing. Seluruh program SENADA terfokus pada beragam inovasi, bukan hanya dalam menghasilkan produk tetapi juga dalam strategi dan dari beragam institusi. Kami sangat bangga dengan pemenang iMULAI karena ide-ide mereka menjangkau lebih dari sekedar inovasi produk dan mampu menanggapi permasalahan daya saing yang lebih luas,” ungkap Steve Smith, Direktur Proyek SENADA.

Setelah melalui panel penjurian yang terdiri dari perwakilan Microsoft, SENADA dan USAID berhasil dipilih tiga pemenang yang mampu mengetengahkan ide aplikasi yang tidak hanya berbeda, namun juga bermanfaat dan paling inovatif yang siap untuk membantu industri di Indonesia.
